In the season finale, Amanda officially fires Ella from WPK and cuts off all Ella’s severance pay and recommendation referrals. However, Ella begins to search for anything to blackmail Amanda and finally discovers that Jane Andrews was behind Amanda’a actions and financial misfortune from the very start, in which one of the women will resort to murder to protect her secrets. Meanwhile, Jonah travels to New York to attend a NYU reunion party where, after reminiscing with his former roommate and college friends, he asks Riley to reconcile. Back in Los Angeles, Lauren and David finally get back together, but a jealous Morgan retaliates and puts Lauren’s life in jeopardy and lands David in trouble with the law. Drew tries to stop Michael from performing a dangerous surgery. But the end result has evil yet again winning over good when the evil Michael sets Drew up to be caught with drugs, causing Drew to be thrown in jail, and out of UCLA forever.

At the same time, Jane reminisces about her and Michael’s first meeting and accepts a date from an shy agency co-worker. Meanwhile, Ryan is assigned to escort supermodel Catherine McCord after his first date with Megan goes bad. Amanda’s plans to start a family with Kyle may not ring true when he tells Peter about his suspected sterility. Later, as a result of a lab mix-up, Peter tells Kyle that his suspicious of being sterile are correct. Also, Lexi and Amanda call a truce between their agencies for a charity event. Here, Eve’s marriage to Peter takes a turn when a man, who used to work at the prison where Eve served the last 15 years, recognizes her and threatens to reveal her secret to Peter.

Michael and Jennifer’s mother, Mia, arrives in town for a visit and immediately strikes fear into their hearts since Jennifer told her mother that she was engaged to Craig. When Jennifer learns about Craig’s suicide, she persuades a reluctant Billy to play her fiancé to Mia. Michael also angrily searches for the departed Amber after she robbed his beach house and when he ventures to the strip club where she worked, he learns that she skipped town after stealing money from the various dancers and bouncers. Frustrated and angry, Michael attacks the club manager and ends up in jail in which his mother has to bail him out. Meanwhile, Taylor plays her trump card by slipping to Amanda about Kyle’s long-lost Marine love, Christine, while he is determined to forget the past. Samantha finally lands Jeff Baylor, but with one stipulation that she handle the account herself, and Billy is struck with jealousy after correctly assuming that Jeff is after Samantha. Also, Lexi and Cooper try to let bygones be bygones after her father makes them business partners in his new company.

In this two-hour episode, Kyle and Nick have a boys night out that ends in jail for both of them when they get into a barroom brawl at Shooters. Meanwhile, Taylor supplies Peter with valuable news about the hospital’s new chief of staff’s intimate involvement with his employer, Dr. Ilene Shulman, which enables Peter to seize the title for himself. Amanda uses Craig’s lust after her to her own advantage to have him sign some papers so she can finally take control of his half of D&D. Alison and Jake set a date for their marriage, but at the last moment, she leaves him standing on the alter. Samantha moves in with Billy after she can no longer stand cohabitation with the abrasive and nihilistic Sydney, and Alison soon follows suit with Jake. Megan becomes unhappy when the bed-ridden Kimberly coaxes a promise out of Michael to be with her through her last weeks, and to refrain from having sex with Megan until after Kimberly dies. Sydney tries to get Carter to talk to her after Walter forbids her from seeing him again. After Craig lies to Peter that Amanda and him are deeply involved, he runs to Taylor for comfort.

Kimberly becomes nervous when the hospital’s new chief-of-staff, Dr. Calvin Hobbs, issues a psychology evaluation for the employees because she knows about her psychotic tendencies. So, she resorts to hiring two thugs to beat up Matt in order to avoid taking the evaluation since Matt is coordinating the tests. Meanwhile, an unusually pail and emaciated Amanda starts giving everyone a hard time at work. Billy thinks she looks sick and asks Michael to inconspicuously examine her during a formal charity ball. Alison’s sister, Meredith, arrives in town for a visit and falls for Billy. Sydney begins participating in Martin’s activities, much to Jane’s disapproval while at the same time, Sydney gets blamed for a series of incidents at Melrose, starting when Jo’s apartment is broken into and all her camera equipment is stolen. Then, Jane’s apartment is broken into and her dress designs are ruined. Then, Shooters is broken into and trashed and Jake blames Sydney, despite her watertight alibi. But the real culprit is Rikki who (acting under orders from Martin Abbott) is plotting to turn all of Sydney’s friends against her to draw her closer to them.

Jane promises to stand by her. Michael moves back to the beach house and becomes dependent on pills to help with his back pain. Matt goes on a date with Jeffrey Lindley, who later tells him that he’s a Navy Lieutenant and has not come out of the closet yet. Meanwhile, Jo becomes jealous when Reed asks Amanda to help him buy a yacht for his fishing charter business. Billy’s co-worker, Celia, moves in with him and Alison while her apartment is being fumigated. At the same time, she and Billy are in an editing contest at work to get a promotion.
