After learning of Samantha’s sudden reconciliation with Billy, Jennifer tries to jump-start things between Jeff and Samantha by setting them up so she can have Billy all for herself. Meanwhile, Taylor insists on taking a paternity test to see who the father of her unborn child is, and Kyle bribes Michael for the specifics on her. Also, Cooper decides to accept the Philadelphia job offer against Peter’s protest. Amanda continues sinking deeper in depravity and seeks comfort with Rory who offers her a shady business venture. Lexi comes to Amanda’s firm for an ad campaign for her company, while Michael finally learns that Kyle is not the father of Taylor’s unborn child, but he is.

Kimberly’s mother arrives in town to persuade her to return home with her to Cleveland after learning of her health condition from Michael and Megan. Meanwhile, Sydney plays detective to prove that the woman suing her is a fraud, but once again gets bad luck when the conniving Hilda plays everyone against Sydney. Billy learns details about Samantha’s father, Jim, about his criminal days and how Samantha turned him in after he moves in with them. Jake maintains a bedside vigil for Alison when she is hospitalized after developing serious problems with her pregnancy and might lose the baby. Peter begins to see Taylor as his long-death wife Beth, and Amanda is persuaded by Craig to go out with him for a night on the town, where Kyle joins them. Also, Chelsea gets a disturbing phone call from her long-estranged mother.

Kimberly continues to have bizarre delusions as Betsy when she torches the beach house sofa, and eventually goes to Peter for help. Sydney tries to help Bobby who’s facing battery charges against Peter and they learn that Alycia now owns 100% of his cable company. Meanwhile, Peter tries to get the $2 million for Alycia to run Bobby’s cable company in order to escape from her control, and meets with Billy’s winery client for the money. Jake becomes angry at Jane when Jo tells him that she was responsible for causing the disaster at Richard’s fashion show in which he becomes drunk and spends a wild night with Clare Duncan, Jane’s new assistant. Also, Matt becomes upset when a tabloid magazine features him with Alan. But at the end, Alan approaches Matt and tells him that he as decided to let the world know of his homosexuality, even at the expense of his acting career and wishes that it would have worked out between them.

Michael finds Kimberly unconscious after she tries to kill herself by swallowing a whole bottle of sleeping pills and waits for her to die. But they are discovered when Sydney walks in on them. Sydney then blackmails both Michael and Kimberly for $50,000 each to help each other in fighting against the other in matters of the incident. Meanwhile, Jake competes with Jess for Jo’s interests. The devious Brooke starts Amanda’s plan to help her take over D&D when she manipulates Alison to give Amanda a job at the agency, and then begins to disrupt Alison’s work schedule, while she also sets her sights on Billy, despite knowing about Alison’s feelings for him.

Jane learns that her grandmother has died and goes to her home town in Chicago for the funeral to receive $100,000 in inheritance to start her own clothing business. But when Michael finds out about the money, he and Sydney go after it. Eventually, Amanda intervenes and offers everyone a compromise: Jane will keep the money in exchange for Michael to be a silent partner in her clothing design business. Jo meets a model named Gregory, but he leaves her when he finds out that she’s pregnant. Meanwhile, Alison and Billy travel to her home town in Wisconsin to visit her parents and to plan her father’s surprise 50th birthday party, where Billy discovers that she has not told her parents about their engagement.
